13 Dec Women`s Legal Rights Handbook
Because women often do not have access to legal services, the Women In The Law Committee provides the Mississippi Bar Young Lawyers Division with a 152-page guide entitled A Guide To Women`s Legal Rights In Mississippi Second Edition. The guide is distributed free of charge nationwide to women`s and children`s shelters, rape and home centres, United Way agencies, victim and witness coordinators, and all local libraries. Alaska guarantees Alaskan women the right to be treated equally. However, women often find it difficult to exercise this right: they may have difficulty finding work because of their gender; they may not be able to receive child or spousal benefits of former partners; they may not receive fair compensation if they leave an extramarital relationship; Or they may face discrimination or harassment in the workplace. This manual describes the legal rights that affect women in various areas. The manual was updated in 2015 with chapters written by lawyers and compiled by ANDVSA. Keep in mind, however, that the law can change and is sometimes difficult to interpret. If you have a legal problem, try to consult a lawyer or a government agency. Copies of the printed edition of the manual were distributed to member programs after its publication in 2015. If you would like to order a copy, please contact ANDVSA for more details.
